Poi - The dance of the Warrior: Ilysse Aronson Come explore the Art of Poi. Poi spinning originated with the Maori people in New Zealand. Women practiced the poi dance to keep their hands and wrists flexible for weaving, and men to keep their arms strong for battle. It is the dance of the artist and warrior united. All levels of practice are welcome. We will spend some time on fundamental movements of poi spinning. We will also spend some time working techniques to help us be more free and open with our movements. Ilysse Aronson: Ilysse has been learning the art of fire dancing in her travels and with other talented fire dancers. Working with fire has brought Ilysse home to herself. With free form flow and movement, she expresses herself genuinely through this sacred dance. Back to Workshops and Seed Groups |
