Great Transition: Children of the Earth tribe rise up!

Who are we? Creative apes.

Where are we going? Although we cannot predict the future, global scenarios help us understand the choices we must make if we are to avoid the breakdown of civilization and shape a Great Transition to a life-sustaining planetary society.

How will we get there? Let’s look at some examples of efforts people are making, from the Transition Towns movement which arose out of Britain, to Tryon Life Community Farm inside the city of Portland, OR, to Coop Power in Massachussets, to Boston Pueblo a new initiative I am helping to organize.

Sharing our wisdom in a facilitated discussion: What are we doing? Who inspires us? How do we sustain ourselves?

Orion Kriegman - Tellus Institute

Orion Kriegman, a writer and environmental activist, loves to sing in the open air and fell madly in love with animals, trees, and mountains at a young age. Curious about how we heal from our trauma and conflict, during his early twenties he witnessed the aftermath of violence, working with Mayan villagers in Guatemala at the end of a 36-year civil war, supporting the transition in South Africa at the end of apartheid, interviewing Palestinians and Israelis about the Oslo Peace Process, and studying UN efforts to save children from becoming soldiers in Sri Lanka. Meeting extraordinary people in extreme circumstances, Orion is a passionate believer that the human ape has a healthy role to play in the community of life.
