Patrick Draper – University of the Wild Co-Director

Patrick is a co-founder of an earth-based education program, University of the Wild. This work centers on empowering young adults to become leaders in the creation of new and sustainable cultures. Patrick has worked as an apprentice at an organic farm and environmental learning center, as a project leader for a youth volunteer program, and as an apprentice at Earthlands. He has participated in the Community Nature Awareness Program, the Pole to Pole Leadership Institute's selection camp and the World Youth Peace Summit in Thailand. With 2 years experience in Primal Therapy, he brings insight into personal, community and ecological healing.

Marcus Sims - Earth Healing Seed Group

Marcus Sims has been working, studying, and teaching for 30 years to help bring about a life-sustaining culture on Planet Earth. Marcus has studied Deep Ecology with John Seed and Joanna Macy, and in Oct. 2007 attended Seeds For The Future, a 30-day retreat led by Joanna Macy, with 60 participants from all over the world. Marcus is certified as an Advanced Taketina teacher and studied for nine years with Reinhard Flatischler, the Austrian master drummer who developed Taketina. He makes a living building furniture and sculpture with lumber made from salvaged Maryland trees. You can see his woodworking at treincarnation.com. Marcus has been part of the Fire Circle Family for six years, attending more than 15 festivals and participating as a drummer, dancer, chanter, and Taketina guide. In the sacred play of the fire circle, he feels he has found his spiritual home.

Hillary Banachowski - Earth Healing Seed Group

Hillary Banachowski is a long-time artist and Earth activist. She has attended workshops with Joanna Macy and Derrick Jensen, and co-led Reconnecting workshops with Marcus Sims. She has done local, grassroots organizing and in 2008 organized the Sustainable Frederick Festival in Maryland. Hillary brings a love of chant, dance, and sacred play to the Fire Circle at Forest Dance. Her intention is to honor the sacredness in all things.
